The Freeway to Serfdom
"One of the annoying things about believing in free will and individual responsibility is the difficulty of finding somebody to blame your problems on. And when you do find somebody, it's remarkable how often his picture turns up on your driver's license." - P.J. O'Rourke

Failure to Grasp Concepts

This is one of the most fatal tendencies afflicting the world today. Not just outright "life incompetents", of which there are certainly many - I'm talking about people who remain blissfully unaware of actions and reactions, of the iron law that prevents the securing of a free lunch. I don't even think the NDP believes their own Marxist bullshit anymore, they are content to serve as the managers of the perennially aggrieved mob, the ration-card holders of society, if you will. The really dangerous people are the ones profiled in the following recent news stories, willfull deniers of reality staring them straight in the face, the very fools making up the herd of potential labour voters.

CBC Vancouver: Transit activists threaten fare strike

"The Bus Riders Union says if the TransLink board goes ahead with a planned fare hike, it will organize a fare strike.

Aiyanas Ormond of the Bus Riders Union says the fare increases amount to an attack on the poor.

He says his 600 members will organize a revolt, boarding buses and encouraging other transit users not to pay.

'We'll be passing out Bus Riders Union fare strike cards, and having them show those to the bus drivers,' he says.

'We're talking to bus drivers, encouraging them to support the strike, to participate, to cover their boxes, because this is their struggle too.'"

Oh, it sure is their struggle. Just wait until their turn comes to throw a fit for more scratch - where do you think their wage demands will come from? The Transit Fairy perhaps?

Main BCIT campus targeted

"There are no classes at the B.C. Institute of Technology's Willingdon campus on Tuesday, as the rotating BCGEU strike moves to Burnaby.

College support workers began rotating strike action at Kwantlen College campuses in Surrey, Richmond and Langley on Monday.

The Canadian Federation of Students is urging it's members to support the strike, saying the wage issue for the support staff affects the overall quality of education.

'College support staff are really front-line workers at our colleges – people who are lab technicians, who work in student services,' says Lisa Mcleod.

Mcleod says the support workers have seen their real income fall over the years when you factor in the rising cost of living. And she notes that student tuition has doubled during that same time."

(blink) She 'notes' a mysterious rise in the cost of living along with tuition fees, but has any further linear thinking been applied to this 'note' in her progressive little pudding head? Anymore than a chimpanzee 'notes' the rising and setting of the sun every day?

This brings me back to the fatal aspect of this line of 'thinking', if you can call it that. To be successful, a politician simply has to promise each of the above groups that he can lower tuition and transit fares (i.e. hand out 'free stuff') while simultaneously granting "cost of living" increases to everyone else. Do you honestly believe any of the anencephaleptics quoted above are ever going to question the viability of the whole scam? Here's the sick joke - those of you who can think things through for yourselves, who value freedom in and of itself, will forever be outbid in this advance auction of stolen goods.
